Show Don't Tell

Show DON’T Tell

  • It was cold at the beach

I shivered as the water lapped at my numb feet and my teeth chattered.

  • The house needed repairs.

The door creaked as I peered around the edge of the door. I wrinkled my nose
because the house reeked of mould and rats scampered across the squeaky floorboards.
  • Mum was angry.

Her fists were clenched into tight balls and her teeth were gritted. Her eyes were wide,
and I knew she would explode at any second.

  • He scored a try.

As he ran towards the white line that meant everything to him right now, the crowd
held their breath. Finally, he dived towards the line and the crowd went wild.
